While it is doubtful that e.g. Sweden exists, it is without all doubt that Ladonia does. Clearly proclaimed (observe that Sweden has not yet decided to do this; should this be interpreted as a sign of uncertainty as to whether it exists?) as an independent state on the 2nd of June, 1996, the nation owns a powerful statement of its ontological status. It is true that, one could rightly claim that a proclamation is not sufficient, but the additional properties that can be considered fully convincing exist with force: The nation has a definitive territory, its constitution has made it a remoni (a republican monarchy) and the nation has presently 8.000 registered state members; this number is presently growing very rapidly.

Ladonia has given indirect acclaim of the existence of Sweden by leaving it and thereby been put in a state of war. Through grandiose tactical cleverness the Swedes has been lured into believing that Ladonia is not "for real". For this reason, Ladonia appears to the official Sweden as something performed as a joke. In Ladonia, jokes are never made, even if many believe that this is the case.
