Minister of Art and Jump, Fredrik Larsson, in the process of jumping.
Tapper-Popermajer Art Gallery presents HopArt. A performance by
the Minister of Art and Jump of Ladonia, Fredrik Larsson, will take
place during the "gallerinatten" from the bridge by
Amiralsgatan on Saturday, September 28, 2002. The jump will be performed
at approx 7.30 p.m. and a jumping tower will be built, starting approx. 5
p.m.
The HopArt in Malmö by Larsson is part of a life-long performance
with jumps performed in many places, both in Sweden and other countries.
Jumps in the tour have so far been performed in cities like Borås,
Wotan City (Ladonia), Mölle, Vänersborg, and Trollhättan. The first
jump occured in Viskan in "Borås Stadspark". Further jumps
are planned for Houston, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Uddevalla, Gothenburg,
to mention but a few.
The HopArt Tour is a cooperation between The Borås Institute of
conceptual Art, The Conceptual Art Museum of Borås, and the Art and
Jump Ministry of Ladonia.
In the swedish language, the word Jump has a double meaning. The
word is "hopp", and this word can either mean "to
hope" or "to jump". You can jump for joy or make a jump
(into the water - to drown yourself) in despair. There is even people
who paticipates in jumping competitions. Then you can jump high because
you get startled and scared. But in this case, it is all about
Performance, and Fredrik Larsson will jump into the water in order to
protest.
During a performance lasting less than a second, Larsson will
protest against the order of things, partly against the boredom of
everyday life - that according to him in part is caused by:
"Jantelagen" (see author Axel Sandemose for
explanation)
Bad weather
Ununderstandable contemporary art (Larsson is aware that he is
part of this, but he of course is not subject to his own protest)
Idiots & stupid politics
The Company of Wrong – those who always tell us what we do
wrong - and that we should not do this or that
Pollution in various forms
Consumption society
Bureaucracy
Fredrik Larsson is born i Skåne, raised in Höganäs and Ängelhom
and today lives in Trollhättan.
The minister of Art and Jump will be present at Tapper-Popermajer
Art Gallery during the opening of the exhibition "Ladonia - the
birth of a nation" by Lars Vilks (28/9-20/10).
