Soile Yli-Mayry of Finland, a painter for more than 20
years, makes her paintings by using a palette knife. Her style is
quite personal but closely related to expressionism and primitive
art.
She uses paint in three ways; a thin, even coat, thick
lines and by scraping lines into painted area, for three -
dimensional look. The main theme in Yli-Mayrys work is humanity and
peoples alienation from nature in the urban world.
